Windows XP & Parallels

My CD/DVD player no longer works in WINdows XP when I am in that program through Parallels. Would an upgrade to a newer version of Windows solve this problem? If so, which version must I use? Thanks for any suggestions/information.

iMac, Mac OS 9.2.x, Paralells ver. 9

You may want to ask in the Parallels forums. It is their software you are having problems with. Parallels uses virtual hardware drivers not actual drivers so upgrading to Windows 7 will do nothing for your issue.

But, upgrading to Windows 7 is a good idea anyway since XP is no longer supported by Microsoft.
