Can Trojan Vundo can effect macbook

I am seeing this issue with firefox on macbook pro. Some sites e.g. Google, Facebook never loads on firefox when same loads in chrome fine. A spinning wheel is on firefox for eternity. Checked the mozilla support for this and these are the symptoms for Vundo Trojan. But as per Symantec this trojan effects the windows systems only. There is no removal tool for mac.

Does anyone else has seen this issue on mac. How can I fix this.

MacBook Pro (13-inch Mid 2012), OS X Mavericks (10.9.2)

In addition to the reset of Firefox If you have any Virus Protection such as Symantec Get rid of it or any other Virus Protection like McAfee any of them UnInstall them. Don't worry these type of Trojans don't affect your Mac.

Symantec is not recommended for various reasons. It is far more intrusive on your system than other anti-virus. Clam AV and Sophos are better. For a more unbiased source, see
