How do I 'save as' on imovie 10 projects?
Hi
I've created a movie in imovie but need to modify content and save as - how do I do this?
Why has the file functionality been taken off - very frustrating!

Save as what?
I'm thinking that you would simply open iMovie, open your project, make your changes, and finally click Share. You'll get the option to save a file or send the video to iTunes or youtube.
If this doesn't help, then please explain exactly what you're trying to accomplish.
There is no save or save as in iMovie 10. It automatically saves your open project when you quit iMovie. If you want an output file ie a saved movie then follow mtngoatjoe's instructions.
Thanks for your help and yes I am aware of the 'Share' function to output new modified movies however my problem is saving the timeline changes (maybe different music, new added images etc) as a new project so as not to overwrite the old one.
Hope that makes a bit more sense!
Cheers
You can duplicate a project and save it under a new name.

Thanks Geoff - a great help! Most appreciated.
I would still prefer a 'Save as' option though!!
I totally agree with you. Unfortunately Apple seems to have abandoned the safe and sound "save as" in favour of subtle alternatives that rarely match users mental model. We can see this happening in Preview and other Apple app too. Very sad :-(
He want's to save it under a different name so that there will be two files now.
