Emails won't send from Hotmail account on iphone as message says password is incorrect

I recently had a problem with my hotmail account which meant it was blocked and I had to go through a securitiy process to unblock my account and change my password. I can now use my hotmail account again and changed the password on my phone settings to be able to use this account on my phone again. However, when I try to send emails from my iphone from my hotmail account, it says my password is incorrect and the emails won't send. I am also not convinced that I am receiving all emails, although some came through when I initially re-added the account. I have tried to delete the account and add it again, as well as restart my iphone, but I am still having the same problem. The password I have for the account is correct! I would be so grateful if anyone could help.

For anyone else having this problem I have found a solution! You need to change the outgoing server settings as well as the incoming server password which appears on the main settings page. Go into the account in settings and select the box under outgoing mail server. Click on the box under primary server. This will take you to the settings, including the password which you can change.

Hi I have the same problem with my IPhone 6 and IPad however clearly I'm being a bit stupid and would like to know exactly what they need to be changed to. Thank you

I can get into settings & mail & no more selections like servers, accounts. Humm. Do I need to go to Verizon then?

Is it just me does this feel like a really stupid system to have?

Surely you change your password and then boom it's changed... why would the outgoing mail box have a password of it's own?

For some reason I was having problems sending mail from my Hotmail account on my phone. Finally found out that the password was wrong in the outgoing mail account..... for some reason too many dots were there so I put in the correct password which should have gone there in the first place and then it worked... Very strange
