WIFI CHIP IS BROKEN, HOW TO ERASE ALL DATA?

Hi there!

I have an iphone 4s that has a defective Wifi chip. All my data is backed up on computer & iCloud and have new phone. But now, I need to delete all data from my old phone. HOW does this work without wifi connection? Please help!

I tried: settings>reset>erase all content and settings =entered apple id, then it says Verification failed (because of no wifi).

This becomes even more complicated.

I have a 2006 mac book pro that is unable to update software to the bare minimum requirement to update to the newest verision of itunes. this means that my phone is more updated than computer. this makes computer unable to connect/sync with iphone therefore unable to connect via itunes to erase or use wifi to erase data.
