Just purchased a new battery for my Macbook Pro mid 2009 yet it only gets about 3 hrs of battery life.

So I just purchased a new notebook battery since the service battery alert came on. I took it to the Apple store and they confirmed by their "tests" that it did need to be replaced. The service alert is now gone but the battery life seems to be only slightly better. I tried re-calibrating the battery by letting it die all the way then fully re-charging but it is still very poor. Does anyone have any ideas what else it could be? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I have a 2.53 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor and 4 GB 1067 MHz DDR3

MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.6.8)
