why apple does not put memory card slot in there ipods

I have been all over internet web sites, youtube, people posting questions and how to videos, insturctions to modify there ipods for more memory, or memroy card slots why apple dont have this option with there ipods if there are that many people modifying there ipods with card slots with higher memory?
