Can't receive email on 10.9.2 in Mail -- security problem

My wife told me today here MBA 10.9.2 was not receiving any messages in Mail -- me/mac/icloud.com. Restarted, rebooted router, etc. -- no help. Went to the iCloud website and it said her account had a security problem. Tried to reset password, but Apple of course sent the message to an account that couldn't receive messages. Tried the secret questions route -- female cat's name. That worked, inserted original password and all is okay again.


Not the first time this has happened to her account. If I hadn't been there, she would never have gotten it wotrking again.


What locked her out????


Should not have happened,

MacBook Air, OS X Mavericks (10.9.1), Also my wife's MBA with 10.9.1

Last reset my wife's password on 9/28/14 and had to create a new password for her today for her to get her e-mail on her mac/me/icloud.com account..


Most irritating!!!!!!!!!!!!


If I weren't here to do it, she would be lost. Why does Apple keep doing this? She never has to use her password, so why is she constantly required to have a new password for no reason?
