Once my iphone is aproved to be unlocked. Will it remain unlocked forever or not ?

Once my iphone is aproved for unlock. Will it remain unlocked for the lifetime of it ?

iPhone 5s, iOS 7.1

If the carrier to which it is locked unlocks it, then it will stay unlocked.
