if i rent a movie in the us can i start to watch it on a plane without doing anything before boarding? Since I will be in a foreign coumtry when I land, will it still work for 48 hours?

Question: If I rent a movie in the US am I able to watch it on a plane without doing anything before boarding? Also, since I will be in a foreign country when I land, will it last for 48 hours?
