I have problems playing and avi file which played in windows before but cannot be played using quicktime player.. Is there any extension and if there is can anyone direct me there?

It'll most likely work in VLC but may require a codec which isn't available for Mac OS X.

If you need QuickTime, then you might try the resurrection of Perian: https://github.com/MaddTheSane/perian/releases
If the avi had DRM, then it won't play at all on a Mac.
Is there any link which leads me to get an extension for Quicktime player? Thank you?
