sure. first of all, this is the Mac Pro forum, not the forum for all things Apple. Next time, please post your question in the appropriate spot. That being said, the answer is "yes". you'll need to add the Apple TV to the same wireless network as your desktop and share your stuff in iTunes.  this is so that Apple TV "sees" the stuff that you want it to display. I don't know how else to explain it.  You have to turn on Airplay Mirroring. If the movie is in a non-disc format and it's in your itunes library, then you should be okay. If not, try VLC, and set the audio out to Airplay as well.

this is the best I can do for now

    good luck to you

Yes you can. The audio and video formats supported by Apple TV can be found on this web page:

    http://www.apple.com/appletv/specs/

Formats that are supported can be converted by using third party applications. Some apps (such as Handbrake) have presets for specific Apple products.

Once the file is converted to a supported format it can be added to iTunes and played on the Apple TV.

Your profile indicates you are using a MacBook Pro with OS X 10.6.8. If that is true, iTunes is the only way to play movies from your computer on your Apple TV.

If you have a newer Mac with more up-to-date software you can use Airplay to view the file using various apps as described here:
