catpenguin,

are you able to boot into Recovery mode by holding down a Command key and the R key as your MacBook Pro starts up?

  • If you’re not able to, then something has happened to your internal disk — possibly a software problem, possibly a hardware problem. Since you don’t have a backup disk, you’ll need to hire a data recovery service to have a chance of recovering the data on your disk, and such services are expensive — much more expensive than the price of an external backup disk.
  • If you are able to, then select Utilities from the menu bar, and from there run Terminal. In the Terminal window, give it the following commands, one per line, pressing the Return key after each line:
    diskutil list
    diskutil cs list
    mount
Please include in your reply the full output from these commands.

In either case, you would be well served by purchasing an external disk to use as a Time Machine backup destination, so that future disk problems can be easily ameliorated.
