Does my iphone have a virus?

While I was browsing the internet using safari on my iphone 5c a message window opened that said an adult website infected me with a virus (this window looked like an apple notification). I never went on an adult website. it also said that if I didn't do anything about it, it would make my phone battery drop and it would result on a total system failure. At the end it said that I needed to download a clean app that I trusted so I could remove it.

I was using 3G when this happened and not wifi.

Do I really have a virus or is this just a scam? What makes me think that I actually have a virus is that the notification didn't say that I needed to download a specific app, it just said that I need to download one that I trust. Also, it really looked like an apple notification.

My phone is not jailbroken.

Can anyone help me? What should I do?

Yes, i don't understand why, but that also happened to me too. One time, I tried to exit out of it, and ignore it. But it keeps popping up, I got really scared. So I tried updating my iPhone, that worked.

Those sites that open on the web saying you have a virus are scams.

They have absolute no idea what you are running. They will attempt to scare you .

There is no known malware capable of infecting an iPhone that has not been jailbroken. So you're definitely not infected with anything. It's just a scam. Ignore and forget it.

That website was so full of crap it is almost humorous.

Just delete it and carry on.

I get the same thing except it keeps popping up when I'm not on the internet and it says I have to download a certain app for it to stop and Idk what to do.

This happens a lot to probably a lot of people. It has happened to me when I have not visited and adult website it is a scam trying to get you to pay money for a security you don’t need.
