When I start to play a home video on my TV, using Apple TV, my Mac starts up iTunes and plays a totally different video to the one that I selected and is playing on the TV

The computer is picking up the signal from the remote. Go to system preferences - security - general. Click on the padlock and go into advanced. Check disable remote control infrared receiver
