I'm trying to change ipods from and older ipod to the nano 7th gen. My computer recognizes the nano until itunes opens then it gone from my computer. I tried uninstalling intunes and reinstalling and it still does the same thing.
How do I get itunes to not recognize the old ipod and recognize the new nano?

Try a different USB port on your computer.
My old ipod touch connects fine, when I plug in the nano it connects then when itunes opens it disconnects and a window pops up that says "An Ipod has been detected but could not be identified properly. Please disconnect and reconnect the Ipod and try again" If the problem persists, uninstall i Tunes, then reinstall i Tunes again.
I have done eveything it says but still can't get it to stay connected when itunes opens.
When I go to my computer the ipod is gone.
