How can I get an old mac with 9.1 on the Internet to upgrade it. There is on ethernet port or USB port....only a CD-ROM drive.

How can I get a Mac laptop on the Internet to upgrade it from OS 9.1 to OS X? it only has a CD-ROM drive..... no USB port or cat 5 port.

MacBook, os 9.1

Also, the only Mac laptops with a built-in CD-ROM drive but without both USB and Ethernet ports (and capable of running Mac OS 9.1) would be some PowerBook 1400 and 3400c variants. These models cannot be upgraded to Mac OS X. However, it would be possible to connect the computers to the Internet for other purposes via separate network PC Cards (Ethernet or wireless). So, as already mentioned by a brody, details about the computer in question would really help.
