Q: When doing a search in finer why doesn't it show the full filename?

When doing a search in finer why doesn't it show the full filename.  OSX is shortening the filenames when I do a search.  For instance the filename for my songs are all  "artist name - song name" When I do a search finder only displays the "song name" part of the file and leaves out the "artist name"  The filename is the filename why wouldn't it display the full file name? Is there a setting I can change?

Apple also needs to modify finder so it shows "all metadata" and not just a couple...

Thanks!

Will

I'm using El Capitan and still no solution for this issue. A search list wont show the real filename. Problem is I'm trying to delete duplicate files, I can select it by searching 1.m4a but a file like this "Abegg Variations Op 1.m4a" will be listed altogether with "Abegg Variations Op 1 1.m4a" that is the real duplicate.

    Hi Gustavo,

I'm a DJ and Music producer so having this functionality in Finder is critical to my workflow. I tried replacement Finders like PathFinder and other hacks with Yosemite and El Capitan but nothing worked %100 as a fix. In the end I had to roll back to Snow Leopard where the Finder had all the functions I use including showing Artist and Title and also Mp3 bit rate in the "Get Info" pane. If you have a laptop that can run Snow Leopard I highly reccommend reverting to that OS as it's light on resources and has a lot of great features Apple left behind when they moved to Lion and above. On top of that there are several excellent apps for Snow Leopard that I found that give you many of the features of Yosemite and El Capitan including "Split View", tabbed Finder windows, iCloud support and more! I don't think Apple will ever address the issues the OP mentioned as they're all about looking "Forward" and not back even at the expense of functionality.
