Why can't I open dropbox from the very top banner?

Aloha:

I don't seem to be able to start dropbox from the very top banner in the desktop in the desktop window. It just continually shows it's downloading, but it's not coming down.

Any ideas as to what I might be doing wrong. Downloading the latest version did not help.
