The connected computer lets me play the album, but Apple TV indicated the computer needs to be authorized. When I try to authorize it tells me it already is.

Are both signed in with the same Apple ID? Have you tried logging out and back in? Try deauthorizing and authorizing
Turns out some of the music in my library is under a diff user ID. Now my question turns to how can I consolidate the multiple IDs I have collected over time. But that's for a different forum.
AppleTV now supports multiple IDs so should not be a problem...
You cannot transfer purchases, they will be tied to the original ID. Make sure the computer is authorized for all IDs.
