I want to keep the music from the ipod i bought & connect with my Apple ID with iTunes... Any Suggestions??

I purchased a Classic iPod 30gb that has music I like to listen to on it already, but it is connected with my friends Apple ID. Is there a way to sync the Library to my Laptop and with My Apple ID ?

** I've never had any other Apple product except an iPhone 4s (which was stolen) hence the reason I already have an Apple ID.

If your friend owns the songs on the iPod, you should not transfer them to your iTunes library for legal reasons. Purchased content from the iTunes Store has the purchaser's Apple ID embedded in the song file itself. You should have iTunes sync content from your iTunes library to replace what is already on the iPod.
