I am trying to connect my Macbook pro to my Insignia HDtv through the thunderport on my mac. The tv flashes not supported. Can someone please help me? If further information is needed I will gladly give it.

does the insignia have an hdmi input? if so, use the following cable and you should be fine

Yes the tv has an hdmi input. I have a thunderbolt to hdmi adapter. I tried it on my inlaws tv and it worked fine. Is there some setting on the mac or the tv that I can change?
do you have another TV where you are now that you can check? use the same cable and adapter that you're trying on your TV. did you change inputs on your TV to the right one, sometimes TVs don't auto sense the correct input.
and, go into system preferences and displays when connected, what do you see? post a screen shot.
I tried it on my inlaws tv and it worked fine. The tv is on the right input, I put it there manually.I can't post a screenshot because the issue isn't on my mac it's on the tv. The best way to describe it is like when you switch to an input that has nothing plugged in and it says no signal, instead of saying no signal it is saying not supported and moving around the tv screen.
you can post a screen shot, i'm referring to what's on your Mac when you open 'displays' in 'system preferences'
the issue is its hard to troubleshoot now since you don't have a 2nd tv. sure, it worked on your inlaws but who knows what happened in the day, week or whatever since you tried it
