I have just loaded office 365 on to my I pad and I am trying to get a word doc from my PC to the ipad with no success I have tried emailing it to myself although it is sent as a word doc it appears on ipad and iPhone as a win mail.dat file pad won't open

How do you get a word document on to your ipad to edit with Microsoft office 365 for ipad

I have tried emailing it to myself from PC however ipad can't read it tried drop box again can't read it

Does any one have any ideas

iPad (4th gen) Wi-Fi + Cellular (MM)
