Where has my "Battery Low" warning gone?

Where has my "Battery Low" warning gone?

When it got below 5% (I think) I used to get a warning come up. Now for about last 2 or 3 weeks it just shuts down with no warning. Plus when I attach the power lead & switch on the battery status says it is at 27%.

My MacBookPro2,2 is a 2006 unit from USA, running on

OS X ver. 10.6.8

Processor 2.16 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo

Memory 3 GB 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM

We had a genuine battery fitted by Apple about 9mths ago.

Any Help will be appreciated

Reset the SMC. I'm pretty sure that model has a removeable battery, so you want this method:

Resetting the SMC on Mac portables with a battery you can remove

Note: Learn about removing the battery on MacBook and MacBook Pro.

  1. Shut down the computer.
  2. Disconnect the MagSafe power adapter from the computer, if it's connected.
  3. Remove the battery.
  4. Press and hold the power button for 5 seconds.
  5. Release the power button.
  6. Reconnect the battery and MagSafe power adapter.
  7. Press the power button to turn on the computer.

You shouldn't be running the battery down that low on a regular basis though. It'll shorten the life of the battery.

Well done & many thanks BobRz, that has worked. We followed your instructions at about 12GMT at about 7.30pm we got a warning of a low battery, 9%. Thats perfect.

Your last paragraph, are you absolutely sure. We have always been told that it is best to run down all re-chargable batteries, phones, tooth brushes, etc.. Please confirm for me please.

Tony
