Can you elaborate on that?

What information about the system and iBook G4 can you offer here; such as About this Mac (more info) and System Profiler; plus the total RAM installed, hard disk drive capacities, of free and used space...?

To find out what model ibook G4 it is, is a start. And the OS X, and other configuration specs may help. If it has a 12" or 14" display, will often help guess at the rest of the hardware; but not reliably so. They had several differences in builds in each model year series.

Depending on the iBook G4 (800MHz, up to 1.42GHz cpu PPC) the

possible RAM upgrade varies; as do the OS X supported version.

The site http://everymac.com has a good cross-section of nearly every Mac product made, as well as specs. However their iBook section starts at the beginning with G3 clamshell colors & ends with G4 'mid-2005'.

There are several reasons why an iBook G4 could be dragging, and the effect may be worse online. A matter of available resources, (RAM, HDD) and settings, wireless router specs, security (WPA, WEP) and whether or not the base wi-fi supports an older 802.11b/g/ frequency, can matter. Also frequency sharing products in the local area can affect the wi-fi signal. Microwave oven, electromagnetic sources, cordless phone, etc.

Hopefully you can describe more details of this situation.

Good luck & happy computing! 🙂
