Where is my backup?

Okay after spending all day fighting with iOS, finally got it to restore.

ONLY NOW ITUNES INSISTS MY LAST BACKUP (I BACKED UP YESTERDAY) IS FROM OVER A YEAR AGO!

I am restoring from this old one...how do restore from yesterday's backup?

Why isn't it accessing the cloud either?
