Is the Music app picking music randomly?

Every few days, I open my iPad and I see that the Music app has picked a random song/album out of my music collection and "queued it up". Hitting play will, of course, play it.

Is that normal? Is there any way to turn it off? I don't necessarily want to listen to something random.

Thing is, I always intentionally have a specific song selected, started playing, set to repeat, and paused. I do that because my iPad often starts playing music unexpectedly. Usually it starts playing this song.

But when this happens, I go to the Music app, and sure enough, I'm looking at my preferred song, just where I'd left the app. But somehow, that is not the song in the play widget in the upper left corner. Something else has gone and picked a random song.

What is going on? Bug?
