So apparently I can't get ios7 on my ipod. So I can no longer get podcasts? Because to download the app to get podcasts it says you need ios7. I already have podcasts on my ipod. I can't get any more?

what generation is your ipod? if it is a 4th generation the reason you are unable to update to ios 7 is because in the 4th gen ipod it has only 256mb of ram where as the 5th gen ipod has 512mb of ram and therefore the 5th gen is able to run ios 7 due to having more ram over the 4th gen ipod

Just subscribe to the podcasts. Just because there's a new version of iOS that doesn't mean that your apps stop working.

Starting when iOS 7 was released, Apple now allows downloading the last compatible version of some apps (iOS 4.2.1 and later only)

App Store: Install the latest compatible version of an app

You first have to download the non-compatible version on your computer. Then when you try to purchase the version on your iPod you will be offered a compatible version if one exists.
