I've got a Mid 2011 iMac and a generation 2 up to date apple TV. Thus both my devices meet the mirroring via airplay requirements ( http://support.apple.com/kb/ht5404 ). The problem is when I try to mirror my devices I get nothing. I can mirror audio to my appleTV no problem but no visual.

AirPlay Mirroring requires a second-generation Apple TV or later, and is supported on the following Mac models: iMac (Mid 2011 or newer), Mac mini (Mid 2011 or newer), MacBook Air (Mid 2011 or newer), and MacBook Pro (Early 2011 or newer). For non-qualifying Macs you can try using Air Parrot.

Thanks to the $15 Beamer, AirPlay streaming is still possible on Macs that do not support Airplay and mirroring.
Other solutions are the Air Parrot, StreamToMe, and AirServer.
I have airparrot and it worked great until I updated to Mav. Now it won't stream audio and when I click start audio it force closes airparrot. My biggest annoyance here is that all my devices meet the requirements Apple stated but it's still not working.
Airparrot may be the glitch. Most likely not compatible with AirPlay on Mavericks.
I've deleted airparrot and no difference...
What content are you trying to stream. Some DRM'ed content will not stream.
Anything in iTunes works fine movies, music, etc. but dvd's and mirroring altogether is not working. At this point I have reinstalled the osx and the problem still exist. I'm not sure if this is a 10.9.2 problem or not. I'm sure all of air parrot files and drivers are uninstalled and do not exist on my mac anymore.
I reinstalled airparrot and that is now allowing me to mirror image perfectly. Hopefully apple fixes this glitch fast.
