Hey, my iphone 5 ran out of batteries today and after I charged it, it just keeping searching for the SIM card. I tried to turn it off and on several times and I did remove the SIM cards out to clean it. But even without a SIM card, it keeped saying searching. What happened and what should I do.

It would search without a SIM, since it was on. It would try to find a network. There are any number of reasons the phone could give you the searching error, but this support document relates to SIM errors. http://support.apple.com/kb/TS4148 If that does not help, you can go to Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings and see if that helps.
