Swipe between pages "scroll left or right with two fingers" does not work on Magic TrackPad in Mavericks?
I just purchased an iMac this weekend which is running Mavericks. This is replacing an "early 2008" era white MacBook which never got updated from Lion to MountainLion, so I'm a bit behind the curve and trying to catch up fast.
I opted to swap the magic mouse for the trackpad, and so far I'm loving that decision. But I seem to have run into one snag.
The gesture "swipe between pages" does not seem to work in the "scroll left or right with two fingers" mode -- or if it does, I can't do it and need guidance on how this "scroll" is different from a "swipe" (the word used for every other gesture it seems).
The problem is, if I change it to "swipe with three fingers", then this gesture works, but I lose the gesture for dragging items with three fingers and the gesture for scrolling a page with three fingers.
That's a bad trade.
So I really want to get "scroll left or right with two fingers" to work. I can't see any conflicts between this and another gesture assignment that would be causing the problem (and Mavericks seems to auto-disable in the event of conflicts anyway, see above about three fingers), but neither can I get pages to swipe in this mode.
I've tried both in full screen and not in full screen, that doesn't make a difference, it doesn't work in either case. I've tried Safari, Chrome, Preview... nothing.
(a) Is this a known problem in Mavericks and is there any sense of when it will be fixed?
(b) Am I being an idiot about how this works and can someone point me to how to get educated? I'm duplicating what the video in system preferences is showing and it simply doesn't work.
