Not able to delete a backup from old computer in my time capsule

So, there is an 400gb disk on my time capsule that I can not delete when acessing throght "SHARED".

There is a lock icon on the right bottom! I already tried to disk repair it, but it still not working.

What should I do?!

OS X Mavericks (10.9.2)

Is there other stuff on the disk you need.. if not simply use the airport utility and erase the disk.. a quick erase will take less than 2min..


If there is stuff you need on the disk you need to use terminal command to delete the file.. but I am unsure what you mean by 400gb disk .. is it a sparsebundle from Time Machine or a dmg file or what is it exactly.

It does not cover Mavericks.. which is strange and has some issues with permissions rather worse than previous OS.


You may find manually mounting the TC helps.. particularly just having the disk password set correctly.


A TM backup is easier to delete from the computer that created it.. Is that available??

There are a few ways around it..


I am trying to find the terminal commands.. how comfortable are you doing it from terminal??


I have found Windows can often work where the Mac OS is tied up with permissions.. do you have a PC or bootcamp etc on a computer??
