Q: My Retina Display has stain damage, HELP!!!

photo.JPG

I dont know how it happened, but somehow my retina display got some weird clear-ish stain damage that is very noticable on a black background. I have tried to clean it with water and a micro fiber cloth like usual, but i think this is not something on top of the screen as much as it is something has like eaten away a part of the screen... I need help! what do i do to solve this aside from replacing the screen... if water and microfiber arent working, what else can i use? I am worried that windex or alcohol will excacerbae the problem, as i suspect it might have been alcohol that caused the problem in the first place, but im not sure... any insight, please? this is driving me nuts

I just got a new MacBook Pro 13" (early 2015), and it came with a thin piece of papery plastic between the lid and the keyboard that fits the shape of the laptop. I'm probably going to be overly safe and put it there each time I close the lid, just to see if I can prevent this problem. I would just use the laptop normally and report back to this thread if anything happens, for science, but you know, I just spent $2,000 on this thing, so uh...

Yes, I have same problem too. It still has around one and a half year warranty.
Today, I visited one of the AppleStores in Istanbul and -no surprise- they refused my request too.

Do any of you have the 2015 version of the Macbook pro? If so, is the Staingate still a problem?

Okay hopefully there's no problems for the 2015 versions. I'm planning on getting one soon, how long have you had your Mac?

I've had mine for about a week. No problems yet. Haha, but seriously, that's the big question. Someone said they found a German article saying the 2015 versions don't use the antiglare coating at all, but I'm not sure if that's true.

I bought my MacBook in August 2014 too i got it at best buy i only bought the one year warranty which I was going to up grade later to two more years best buy said that was fine and the lady that helped me said she would send a email saying when it was time to renew well she didn't and now i have no warranty if i would of known my warranty was ending i would have got it checked just to make sure everything was working right. But best buy said they couldn't help me because my warranty was up and they were not offering the 3 year plans anymore they were only giving the same warranty  apple gives for there products  from now on. So then I called apple they said to bring it in and they will look at it i did I drove for 2 hours just for them to tell me they can't help me I had a app that at 2 I arrived at 12:30 I was really early they told me to come back at 1:50 I did sat there tell 2:37 and then someone came to help so to make a really long story short they said they would fix it but it was going to cost 786.00 for a new screen I have a 15 inch 16gb Mac book retina

How about you go to apple and pay like 200$ for them to take off the screen and put a new retina display screen?

I bought my 15" about 18 months ago. I initially didn't pay attention to the spots appearing at the edges of the screen. They didn't disappear while cleaning according to the Apple indications, but I didn't want to insist as I didn't want to risk damaging it. Spots are covering the whole black band around the display area. This is obviously a manufacruring defect. Like many other companies, Apple is incapable of ensuring sufficient quality control in their Chinese facilities. Increasing profit margins sooner or later comes at a cost, not only for customers we can hope.

And no reaction from Apple. Several car manufacturers would already have reacted and ensure repair of the faulty devices. We can be very disappointed, I am.

Pete, I hope that you are paid well for this bullying around. But I fear that you do that for free.

Now, back to reality: the eventual fact that they removed my post in accordance with Terms of Use does not defy my subsequent point. Actually, it gives it more substance.

I have an early 2013 MBPR that has the same stain damage. I have heard of apple being terrible at customer service but never this bad. Is there a petition we can sign? How can they treat their customers this badly?!
