Q: My Retina Display has stain damage, HELP!!!

photo.JPG

I dont know how it happened, but somehow my retina display got some weird clear-ish stain damage that is very noticable on a black background. I have tried to clean it with water and a micro fiber cloth like usual, but i think this is not something on top of the screen as much as it is something has like eaten away a part of the screen... I need help! what do i do to solve this aside from replacing the screen... if water and microfiber arent working, what else can i use? I am worried that windex or alcohol will excacerbae the problem, as i suspect it might have been alcohol that caused the problem in the first place, but im not sure... any insight, please? this is driving me nuts

No, Pete. You can clearly see. Everyday new people report the same issue. So they can see they aren't only idiot who don't know how to clean the screen as they could think after talking with Apple support or other Genius sth. This makes value of that conversation.

In order to keep this thread helpful, I suggest we keep our personal feuds and disagreements for ourselves.

Yes, everyone should report the issue to Apple, even if they won't respond. At least they'll know that there is a serious issue.

Share your info and experiences here.

Some people here are actually interested in finding a solution, so let's keep the thread to them.

    thank you.

I didn't even realize it was a reflective coating issue! I have been tearing the internet apart trying to find out why I have keyboard prints on my display and why there is this super annoying light speckled look where I lift up the display! So freaking annoying!! Apple, I love your products, I love your philosophy, I spend massive amounts of money supporting what you are doing (iPad mini, iPhone 6 128gb, Macbook Pro Retina 15" 16Gb maxed out processor, soon to be owner of apple watch, beta tester and supporter of all your software). This screen issue is driving me crazy! It is a small price to pay for such a wonderful machine but dammit, you are a company with the biggest selling feature being that 'everything just works beautifully' and this screen issue is definitely not 'just working' or 'beautiful'. Please Please Please allow us to come into your store and get this fixed up! I want my computer to be a stunning piece of industrial design again!! I know, I know, first world problems.

Actually Apple doesn't even offer a category that would fit the feedback. Mostly software related. Only point that remotely makes sense is "Design/...".

    Hi,

I believe the problem, at the very least a contributing factor, is heat. Many users report the problem start at the bezel, exactly where the screen is in contact with the hottest of part of the frame. Why else would apple warn users not to put them in a bag? So a product design problem that the company in question fails to admit.

    Hello,

First time posting to this thread, but I wanted to chime in and say that I have the same problem too.  My keys are visibly marked onto the screen and it bothers me very much.  Has anybody had any luck resolving this I try to keep everything as clean as possible to avoid it getting worse. I feel like this is poor design trying to make them as thin as possible. I would rather there be a slight air gap between the keys and palm rest and the screen than have them contact the screen and mark it up.
