Q: My Retina Display has stain damage, HELP!!!

photo.JPG

I dont know how it happened, but somehow my retina display got some weird clear-ish stain damage that is very noticable on a black background. I have tried to clean it with water and a micro fiber cloth like usual, but i think this is not something on top of the screen as much as it is something has like eaten away a part of the screen... I need help! what do i do to solve this aside from replacing the screen... if water and microfiber arent working, what else can i use? I am worried that windex or alcohol will excacerbae the problem, as i suspect it might have been alcohol that caused the problem in the first place, but im not sure... any insight, please? this is driving me nuts

This whole discussion about fixing Apple's defective screens, terms of use, etc.....  What a waste!  At the end of the day is the customer happy......  In my case and many others who have been saddled with a defective product, I would say no, we're not happy.  But now we know what to expect and can take it as a "lessons learned".

Obviously. So that's your evidence? No insanity plea or anything?

Can we please keep the thread on topic.  I woke up this morning to 25 email alerts regarding this topic, and all of them were about terms of use, moderators deleting posts, members replying to each other with one pithy comment after another, etc.,...nothing about defective screens.

MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, Early 2013)

Big stains right through the middle which basically makes it impossible to use if the sun is out.

    Greetings from Brunei Darussalam.

Bought this MBP 13" (late 2013) model around april 2014, Noticed this (refers to picture) today. When did it happen? i have no idea. Why did it happen? i have no idea. How did it happen? i have no idea. The only idea i want is whether Apple will fix this for free as it will be a HUGE burden to repair something i took super good care of since i received it. The MBP itself cost me 5 months of my savings. I don't see this situation on an iphone or ipad =(

I did not use any chemical to wipe the screen. I used the cloth that came with the MBP, and i used distilled water to clean at very very light pressure. Works fine for me until NOW.

Please add me to the list. My MacBook Pro late-2013 13" Retina display has coating failure on the entire screen black perimeter; here's a photo near the top center.

Very DISAPPOINTED  at Apple's response, or actually LACK of it, to fix this manufacturing problem with the anti-glare / AR coating.  No problem with my other MBP 2012 non-Retina display. I bought the premium model (Retina) for the second laptop, but now think this was a mistake.  This is the 58th page of this reported problem on this forum, but NO Apple response yet.  I've had many Apple products with satisfaction, but this problem may compel me to buy something else (NOT Apple) next time, and definitely not a Retina.  So much for buying the "best".

Where's leadership like Steve Jobs used to provide to ensure complete satisfaction?   Apple's "help" says this is users' abuse; is Apple's solution not to touch the screen or keys with your fingers? Way to hurt your public image and potential sales, Apple.
