My apple TV won't turn on. The TV screen says to hook it up to iTunes. I am trying to hook it up to my iMac with a cable, but nothing is happening. Not sure why this happened?

My apple TV will not power up. When I turn on the TV there is a picture of the apple tv with a cable plugged into iTunes. I have tried to do this, but I don't get anything up on my computer. I have also tried to reboot the apple TV with the remote and nothing. I am not sure why this has happened. Does anyone have an answer for me?

Did you follow the steps exactly? Removing all cables, plug in micro usb and start itunes. If you have a 3rd gen ATV you also need to connect power.

I am having exactly the same issue - I've just done the power up as per the link and its still showing the 'connect to iTunes' image - - my apple tv is ONE DAY old and worked fine last night - this is rubbish - I feel i just want to return it straught away
