Shuffle 4th gen neither charges nor is recognized

Hi fellows,

after hours of desperate and unsuccessful trying I need your help with my iPod.

Before today my shuffle was absolutely fine. I plugged it into any USB-port and iTunes opened. Now today, nothing happened. Neither Windows nor iTunes recognized the iPod. I tried different laptops, any USB-ports, tried to reset and everything suggested by Apple. The only life sign I get is a red constant light for about 4 seconds when plugging it into an usb-port. After these 4 seconds, nothing happens.

Anyone knows what to do?

Cheers

If you tried different computers, you have probably ruled out a bad USB port. It could be a bad USB docking cable, but since you at least get the red light, it is probably OK.

If it's not a bad USB port or USB docking cable, the cause is likely to be on the iPod. It may be the logic board. It may be the battery, but if it's just the battery, I think the iPod would appear in iTunes when connected.
