I am getting ready to sell my ipad, I set it back to factory and forgot to take my photos off. Can I recover them?

Not unless you have a backup with them on there or they are in PhotoStream.

I know. I had hoped they were on my itunes account. I thought at one time I saw them, but I can't find anywhere there were any photos on there.

ok guys. I figured it out and I was able to restore my photos! YAY me! I had already set the ipad back to factory, so I just reconfigured the ipad like I was the one who was first using it again and there is an option to restore from backup, so I took a chance and connected to itunes and it had the option to set up as new or from backup. I did it from backup, viola, there are all my photos. So, it took a LONG time, but I had to set up the icloud on my PC and transfer them about 100 at a time. But, I finally got them all (about 1300). I am so thankful. thank you all for your comments and suggestions.

I guess you didn't see my first post that mentioned the backup?
I did see that, but itunes did not show me any back up. I did not know how to access any backups that I had done since my ipad was back to factory. I decided to set it back up and try to see if I could do it from back up and that is how I got it. I was told by someone not on here that it they still would not be there if I did that and they were. thanks
