Is my macbook pro battery ill? worrying charge-up and discharge time

I am still fairly new using the mbp, hence unsure if my battery is performing as it should. I noticed on this forum that most guys have their batteries charged up in about 3-5 hours...mine, which i only just bought in February 2014, charges fully in only an hour or so.. Is something wrong with my mbp?

Also, i have always thought that macbook's battery are superior to most windows PC i have always used, but it is a little surprising that my battery doesn't seem to last as long...probablly about 2-3 hours. I use it lightly at the moment, and being in the photography world, i intend to be using it for more editing and heavier work and i cannot even imagine how the battery power will be used up by then.

Can someone pls tell me i am the one who's probably doing something wrong with the settings, and not that my MBP is underperforming.

Cheers

A 2-3 hour battery life suggests a runaway background process. Please see this article:

If you have OS 10.9, note the the directions in step 3 to show "All Processes" has moved to the "View" Menu.

Also remember that this test works most effectively if you use the comptuer for a half-day or so of normal tasks before running it. It will not tell you much if you run it right after a restart.

Also you are under warranty. If you have any doubts about the battery, take the comptuer tyo Apple for evaluation.
