CPU idle temperature is high

Hi all,

I got a high cpu idle temperature issue,

1. No special process is running, I just boot up the system and the cpu temperature goes 75+C.

2. Check with the top command in console, no heavy proccess is found.

I use my MacBook for work everyday, but this issue dose not happen everytime system boot up.

Dose anyone has similar issue?

Any advice is welcome, thanks!

Here is my MacBook Pro's spec:

MacBook Pro (13", mid 2009), Core 2 Duo 2.26GHz

OSX 10.9.2

MacBook Pro, OS X Mavericks (10.9.2)

have you tried resetting your MacBook Pro’s System Management Controller?

joshuuu,

have you run your MacBook Pro’s Apple Hardware Test, to see if it can detect anything amiss? (For example, perhaps one of its temperature sensors isn’t working properly?)

Melophage,

I just ran the Hardware Test, a full test in about 1hr, and it passed the test, nothing abnormal reported.

I thought the temperature sensor works normally, I can feel the difference between 55℃ and 75℃.

BTW, the fan also works well.

joshuuu,

are you always using your MacBook Pro in places with good air flow? For example, do you always use it on a hard, flat surface, such as a tabletop, or do you sometimes use it on a soft, flexible surface, such as on a blanket or cushion?

joshuuu,

I can only recommend that you make an appointment at an Apple store to have them check it out; they have more advanced diagnostics than are found in the Apple Hardware Test, and they might be able to detect something that the AHT couldn’t.
