Can you use a Dot Matrix printer w/ OS X Mavericks...?

Can you use a Dot Matrix printer w/ OS X Mavericks even if the printer doesn't have a driver available for Mac?

MacBook Pro with Retina display, OS X Mavericks (10.9.2)

If there is no OS X driver for this printer then you won't be able to use it. Depending on the brand/model there may be a third party driver available.

If you can locate a supporting driver then the other issue could be the communication and connection to the Mac. Older dot matrix printers had a serial or parallel port rather than USB or Ethernet. So to connect it to the Mac you would need to obtain an adaptor to convert the printers port to USB.
