trackpad not registering first couple clicks

So my trackpad has been acting up for awhile now and its been annoying to say the least, especially when I'm trying to play a game. When I click it decides whether or not it "feels" like registering. Most of the time it takes a click or two to register. My battery says replace soon, but on the other hand about 7 months ago one of my friends cats spilled orange juice on my trackpad... I don't know if its the trackpad acting up or if it's just my battery slowing down its response time. Either way this is going to cost me something. If anyone has any suggestions on what you think it may be, and how much it'll cost me, it would be greatly appreciated. 🙂
