Claudia,

One of the first things to look at when you get panics is any non-Apple kernel extensions that are loading. In your case there are four.

com.LaCie.ScsiType00 1.2.9

com.jmicron.driver.jmPeripheralDevice 2.0.4

com.lacie.driver.LaCie_RemoteComms 1.0.1

com.oxsemi.driver.OxsemiDeviceType00 1.28.13

Did your problems start after installing one of these? I'm not sure all this stuff is related to a LaCie drive. Obviously a couple are. Make sure they're the most current through the LaCie website.

Dear Bob,

Thanks for your reply and your help.

for the jmicron and the oxsemi extensions, I dont know what they are.

LaCie is an external harddisk which I bought with the mac, but I dont use it anymore. So I didnt upate it anymore.

I experienced the first kernel panic as I restarted my macbook pro with the iphone still plugged in. I dont know if this could be the cause of the problem?

Also how can I find out where these extension belong to? Also I tried to locate them on my laptop but didnt find them.

Thanks again for your help.

Best,

Claudia

Try this first. Let's see if it uninstalls all those things. This is off the LaCie website:

Uninstall LaCie Desktop Manager

Mac Users

Click the LaCie Desktop Manager icon in the menu bar, then select Preferences. In the window that opens, click Uninstall LaCie Desktop Manager.

When that's done, run an etrecheck report and post it here.

Apr 8, 2014 5:21 AM in response to BobRz

thanks for your time!

but didnt find the oxsemi.... is there a program how I can find it on my laptop? I did check the library, but I dont have a folder called "extensions" (I read up on this somewhere)

So thats the etrecheck now.

Are you sure you're looking in the folder off the root of the hard drive and not the one in your home folder?

For the others, look here:

The .plist files that launchd uses can occupy any of five folders, and their location determines when the items load and with what privileges:

  • Items in /Library/LaunchDaemons and /System/Library/LaunchDaemons load when your Mac starts up, and run as the root user.
  • Items in /Library/LaunchAgents and /System/Library/LaunchAgents load when any user logs in, and run as that user.

okay thats the new check, everything is running smooth at the moment. so I'll see 😉

Thanks a lot for your help!
