Do you need a camera connection kit to connect a Midi controller?

Hi all,

I figured out that my midi controller is working on iPad with some apps. But, I have 1 question. Do you really need a camera connection kit? Or can you just plug it in with the usb cable to iPad input?

Thanks,

I'm sorry but i can't find a edit button, but i wanted to add this: With the iPad input I mean the hole that is below the home button where you can put the loader and stuff in.
