To upgrade to Mavericks you must have Snow Leopard 10.6.8 or Lion installed. Download Mavericks from the App Store. Sign in using your Apple ID. Mavericks is free. The file is quite large, over 5 GBs, so allow some time to download. It would be preferable to use Ethernet because it is nearly four times faster than wireless.

The reason the person asked the question is because many Macs, such as the older Intel Core Duo Mac Mini, and others, cannot go higher than OSX 10.7.5.

A bit pointless to suggest that an upgrade to Mavericks is the answer.

So, the question remains. Does anyone know if it is possible to install iBooks on 10.7.5?

The question was answered. You must have Mavericks or later for iBooks Author. Check it out on the App Store instead of trolling here.

The official Apple support search box directed here on June 27 2015, so still pretty relevant for someone using 10.7.5 who cannot upgrade to Mavericks.

The question was not about iBooks Author.

Incidentally, just found the answer in the Applestore: No, iBooks does not work on 10.7.5, but there is a fantastic eBook reader in the Applestore that does, it is called Clearview.

Clearview cannot substitute for iBooks for many purposes, as it says in the its info: IMPORTANT: No support for DRM protected ebooks! (Such as many of the books sold on iTunes or other book stores)

That still doesn't help. I'm gonna keep using OS X Lion for the rest of my life. Never gonna upgrade to mavericks, yosemite, or El capitian AT ALL.

That's why I've been searching the web to find iBooks Author 10.7.5 to use instead of 10.8.0.
