I have a Mac Mini, iPad Air and a 5s - I just rec'd AppleTV as a gift. Sharing is turned on in iTunes and on the iPad and iPhone. Wifi is set up on AppleTV and the system installed and updated without any apparent issue. AppleTV is recognizing a decommissioned iPhone I gave my daughter to use as a wifi only iTouch. How do I select the computer/device AppleTV sees when I select "Computer" on the AppleTV menu? Thanks!

You should be able to select them by going to the Computers and it will give you the different options to join when you have Home Sharing turned on all your devices.

I appreciate your reply. I realize that I should be able to select them, the trouble is, I can't. I've verified that Home Sharing is on yet Apple TV isn't seeing these devices. The KB article you provided was what I followed to set up my systems initially. Perhaps it's time for the AppleCare team to earn their keep?
So, I'm learning... iOS devices don't appear in the computer list on AppleTV. Try to find that nugget of information anywhere in a KB article - good luck. iOS devices use AirPlay to hit Apple TV and are not represented on the AppleTV menus.
Not realizing that an iPhone wouldn't be seen on the Computer menu, I was confused by "Elise's iPhone" displaying there. What I later found is that my Mac had been re-named in iTunes. "Elise's iPhone" was actually my computer. In retrospect, my system was configured correctly and I didn't know it.
Learning: validate all assumptions. Problem solved.
