sections in pages

I'm using Pages 5.2 for a newsletter and it's left me with 10 pages when I only want 8. Two are blank and are 'sectioned' so if I delete them I delete pages 7 & 8 too. I have no idea how this has happened and I have no idea to keep each page as a separate section. Very frustrated - would be grateful if anyone can help!
