Q: My Photos disappeared from my photo stream. How do I get them back? Can't find them anywhere.

I just recently noticed that hundreds of my pictures are gone from our Photo Stream.  I checked on our PC to see if they were downloaded there and I can't find them.  What happened to my photos and how do i get them back.

    Where did you store the photos permenantly?

     

    PhotoStream is only a temporary storage of photos for 30 days as stated at http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4486

    I just read that it is only stored for 30 days but my photo stream wasn't enabled.  Am I wrong in thinking that my iPhone will hold 1000 pics until I have time to manually upload them onto my computer. Or are they in iCloud & only stored for 30 days?  If this is the case, I better turn off iCloud all together and just manually backup my phone in iTunes, right?  I hope my questions aren't too confusing but I am very confused right now as I can not find certain pictures on my computer that I know I uploaded at one time??
