software update

I need to update my software, it says I have the latest update but I know I don't. I am still on OS X 10.6.8. Also my app store on my mac won't let me sign in, a display panel won't even show up to ask me to sign in so I can't update this way either.

MacBook Pro (13-inch Mid 2010), Mac OS X (10.6.8)
