Mac mini memory: 204 pin or 240 pin?

Hello,

I plan to upgrade memory for Mac mini (Mid 2011) to 2X4GB. There are three options:

I am confused by the pin nymbers, 204-pin or 240-pin? Does the memory has different size? Is PC3-10666 or PC3-10600?

Apple's specifications only said:

A. Small Outline Dual Inline Memory Module (SO-DIMM) format

B. 1333 MHz, PC3-10600E, DDR3 compliant (also called DDR3 1333)

C. Unbuffered and unregistered

which one I should choice, 204-pin or 240-pin? Thanks.

The easiest method for determining the correct memory for Macs is to run the memory scan at Crucial website. It will provide the exact spec of module required and provide a guaranteed Mac compatible module and purchase price.

Thanks Gary,

I run Crucial Menory Scan. and results support 204-pin. But there are two 204-pin memory choices. The first one is SO-DIMM which matches results from Crucial Memory Scan. Second one is Apple Certified.

Which 204-pin is the right one?

Most folks in this community use Crucial products. But because of how finicky Macs are I use OWC. You can view their upgrade options here http://eshop.macsales.com/shop/memory/Apple_Mac_mini/DDR3_1333.

I'm not psoitive about Crucial but OWC has a lifetime warranty. If the memory ever fails, they will replace it. Good luck.
